From an article on elevator safety in the New Yorker:
An average of twenty-six people die in (or on) elevators in the United States every year, but most of these are people being paid to work on them. That may still seem like a lot, until you consider that that many die in automobiles every five hours.
Remember that number. Around twenty-six people die in cars every five hours. Remember it when you read any other statistic involving deaths related to a product over the course of a year to help you keep perspective on how big the risk really is.
Damn that’s a pretty font. From an interview with Neil Summerour over on I Love Typography.
I’ve been a fan of Achewood for a while, but this new book just looks amazing. It’s the Great Outdoor Fight in book form, with a new original story plus history, bios, a hall of champions, glossary, recipes(?!) and a deleted scene.
Well this is odd:

I’m using OpenDNS to resolve DNS at home after TimeWarner / RoadRunner failed on me one time too many. I had a little DNS hiccup this morning and discovered that gem above when digging through the mess. How interesting…
I did a little more digging and it seems that OpenDNS is doing this for a reason, though not a reason that really concerns me. Thankfully I can turn off this feature by flipping the “Enable OpenDNS proxy” toggle highlighted below. There’s also a knowledge base article about it for your perusal. The toggle takes a few minutes to activate, so if you flip it, you’ll have to wait a while to see it work. It took me about 20 minutes to pick up the change.
